Each of our beautifully hand-painted lamps
celebrates the vitality and energy of the early
twentieth century when lighting changed from
kerosene to electricity. Glass lamps would no
longer be smudged with smoke so they could be
decorated with paintings on glass giving the home
a new source of beauty and art. In a burst of
creativity artists painted wildlife or landscape,
floral, bird or even fruit inspired designs on both
the inside and outside of glass lampshades using
oil paints. Depth of color, textures and tonal
qualities were a source of wonder and delight
each time evening approached and the lamp was
turned on.
